Overview

Indiana does not have a general state business license. Businesses with retail sales must register for a Registered Retail Merchant Certificate (RRMC) from the Indiana Department of Revenue before making taxable sales.

Some Indiana cities and counties require local business licenses. Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, and South Bend each have their own local requirements, though Indiana has fewer comprehensive local licensing requirements than many states.
